                                                                      La storia 

Ispirato dalla natura e realizzato rispettandola, questo scialle è frutto di un lavoro attento e meticoloso, nonché di una buona dose di creatività.  Per crearlo ho utilizzato pura lana biologica certificata Gots, un materiale dalle mille qualità. Essa infatti è sia leggera e traspirante, che resistente, calda e morbida.

I miei fidati fornitori, me la inviano in matasse di 60 metri circa, ancora nel loro colore originario: un bianco naturale. Quando arriva il momento di mettermi a lavoro, taglio il tessuto ad incastro per le varie lavorazioni, così da evitare sprechi. La mia lana è un materiale prezioso e come tale voglio utilizzarne il più possibile e farlo al meglio.  

Tramite le mie tecniche di tintura, affinate in decenni di pratica, tingo questa lana pregiata con colore e acqua. Quando il colore ha attecchito, stendo il tessuto ad asciugare all'aria aperta, naturalmente. Ma non è finita qui: per raggiungere un risultato che soddisfa i miei standard, il tessuto deve essere ritinto fino a sette o otto volte. Alla fine di questo processo, il colore è vivo e brillante.      

Una volta asciutto dopo l’ultimo bagno di tintura, il tessuto viene prima stirato e poi sottoposto ad un controllo qualità.

A questo punto vengono applicate le frange lungo i bordi.

Queste frange, come molti dei materiali che utilizzo, hanno una storia speciale. Le ho acquistate parecchi anni fa, durante uno dei mie i viaggi in botteghe, mercatini e piccole mercerie in giro per il mondo. Finora le ho custodite un po' gelosamente, ma ora è arrivato il momento di separarmene e così le ho usate per creare qualcosa di speciale.

Ogni scialle è un capo unico, firmato a mano col mio logo, e accompagnato da un cartoncino dove viene indicato il materiale e le varie tecniche applicate.

Incluso con l’acquisto riceverete un sacchetto artigianale riutilizzabile, anch'esso firmato con il mio logo e un pieghevole che racconta del mio il mio lavoro e spiega la mia filosofia.

          The story 

Inspired by nature and made with respect for it, this shawl is the result of careful and meticulous work, as well as a generous dash of creativity. To create it I used pure Gots certified organic wool, such a high quality material. In fact, it is both light and breathable, and resistant, warm and soft.

My trusted suppliers send it to me in skeins that are about 60 meters long, still in their original colour: an off- white. When it’s time to get to work, I cut the interlocking fabric for the various formats, to avoid wasting fabric. My wool is a precious material, that’s why I want to use as much of it as possible and do so wisely.

Through my dyeing techniques, refined over decades of practice, I dye this fine wool with color and water. When the color has taken hold, I hang the fabric out to dry in the open air, in a natural way. But I am not done quite yet: to achieve a result that meets my standards, the fabric has to be re-dyed up to seven or eight times. At the end of this process, the color is vivid and bright.

Once dry after the last dye bath, the fabric is first ironed. Then I do a quality check to make sure everything went smoothly.

At this point, the fringes are applied along the edges.

These fringes, like many of the materials I use, have a special history. I bought them several years ago, during one of my trips to shops, flea markets and small haberdashery around the world. So far I’ve kept them bit jealously, but now it's time to part from them and so I used them to create something special.

Each shawl is a unique garment, hand signed with my logo, and accompanied by a card where you can read which material and techniques I used to make it.
