 Stola Margherita: una storia mediterranea  

La storia delle mie stole primavera nasce da lontano, sia nello spazio che nel tempo. Tutto è partito da un mio viaggio in Turchia, dove ho potuto toccare con mano l’incredibile maestria di queste donne, capaci padroneggiare questa antica tecnica utilizzando un filato sottilissimo. Incantata, ho deciso di collaborare con loro commissionandogli delle deliziose margheritine. Queste artigiane Turche lavorano prevalentemente in casa, integrando il reddito familiare e/o si assicurandosi un’indipendenza economica.     

Realizzo le mie stola Margherita con pura lana biologica, certificata Gots e tinta a mano, decorata con margherite ad uncinetto applicate lungo i bordi.

I materiali che utilizzo sono scelti con cura: devono essere etici, sostenibili e di qualità. Questa lana rispetta tutti i miei criteri ed anche è leggera e traspirante, ma allo stesso tempo resistente, calda e morbida.

La ricevo in matasse di 60 metri circa, di colore bianco naturale, che poi vengono tagliate ad incastro per le varie lavorazioni, in modo da evitare sprechi. Prima della tintura, la stola viene orlata a mano con un filato di seta non violenta, che prende il colore del resto della sciarpa durante il procedimento di tintura. Esso viene svolto secondo una procedura all'apparenza semplice, quasi rudimentale, ma che richiede parecchia maestria. I miei strumenti sono una pentola, acqua bollente, tintura ed aceto. Il risultato sono colori d’indescrivibile bellezza.

Terminato il processo di tintura, la stola viene stesa e asciugata all’aria aperta.Una volta asciutta, la stiro e la sottopongo ad un controllo qualità, al fine di garantire ai miei clienti un prodotto d’alto livello. A questo punto, applico manualmente le margherite ad uncinetto lungo i bordi della stola. Ognuna d’esse è firmata a mano da me, e accompagnata da un cartoncino con l’indicazione del materiale e delle varie tecniche applicate.

Incluso con l’acquisto riceverete un sacchetto artigianale riutilizzabile, firmato con il mio logo, una margherita cucita su un clip, un pieghevole illustrativo che vi spiega passo dopo passo le varie vestibilità della stola e un pieghevole che raccolta del mio lavoro e della mia filosofia.

 Queste è stola la sintesi di un’antica tradizione Turca, combinata con l’etica della lana biologica, tinta nei colori tipici del paesaggio Mediterraneo.

                                 Daisy shawl: a Mediterranean story 

The idea behind my spring shawls comes far away, a distant time and distant place. I was on a trip to Turkey, a mesmerizing country full of wonders and traditions. There, it’s where I witnessed the incredible craftsmanship of these crocheters, who are able to master this ancient technique using a very thin yarn. I was so amazed by their skills that I decided to collaborate with them by commissioning these lovely crochet daisies. These Turkish female artisans work mainly at home, supplementing the family income and / or gaining financial independence for themselves.

I make my Margherita shawls with Gots certified organic wool, that is hand dyed and decorated with crochet daisies applied along the edges.

I am very selective when it comes to the materials I use to make my creations: they have to be ethical, sustainable and high-quality. This wool fits the bill perfectly, and is also light and breathable, warm, resistant and soft at same time.

 

It is shipped to me in 60-meter-long rolls, still in its natural off-white color. I cut the fabric in a special way that allows me to not waste any of it.Before starting the dyeing process, I hem the shawl by hand with a peace silk yarn, which takes the color of the rest of the scarf during the dyeing process.This is carried out according to an apparently simple procedure, almost rudimentary, that actually requires a high degree of mastery. My tools are a pot, boiling water, dye and vinegar. The result are vivid, beautiful colors. 

One the dyeing process is completed; the stole is laid out to air-dry outside. Once it’s fully dry, I iron it and I do a quality check, to make sure that my customers get a high-quality product. Only at this point, I can manually apply the crochet daisies along the edges of the shawl.

Each of them is hand signed by me, and accompanied by a card indicating the material and the various techniques I used to make it.
